These oversized keyways on
the shafts of equipment used
at the Tianjin Steel Pipe
Company had become worn
due to many years of use.
The client was looking for a
high performance engineering
repair solution, which would
offer long-term refurbishment.
The equipment was dismantled to
expose the oversized keyways, which
were then rebuilt and re-assembled.
 The
metal surface was prepared in line
with Thortex technical guidelines,
ensuring any surface contaminants had
been removed. Metal-Tech EG was
applied to the oversized keyway and
the key treated with Thortex Release
Agent was then pressed into it. Excess
product was removed and the unit reassembled
providing a long-lasting
repair.
Metal-Tech EG is a two component,
engineering grade metal repair
compound which provides outstanding
corrosion and chemical resistance as
well as good mechanical strength in
one easy application.
